The Sanbokan tree is a self-fertile, rare hybrid citrus fruit originating from the Wakayama prefecture in Japan. The fruit has a very distinctive appearance, with a large basal nipple and rough, thick skin. Fruit peels easily like a tangerine, the flesh is tender and sweet, flavor profile is like a mix of sweet orange and grapefruit, giving the Sanbokan a natural “lemonade” taste – the perfect mix of sweet and tart.
